Self Love 101: Lesson 1
It is so important for me to emphasize that self love club society is a safe, non judgemental space, filled with love and compassion.
---------------------------------------------------
What is self love?
Self love is defined as an apprecation for ones's own worth or virtue
Self love is treating yourself with love, kindness, compassion, and respect, through your thoughts, your words, and your actions.
Is self love selfish?
No. Absolutely not!
What can I do to self love more?
Developing a healthy self love routine doesn't have to be complicated. Taking a few moments a day to:
journal
spend time outside
take a relaxing bath or shower
dance
yoga
stretch
exercise
meditate or pray
take a nap
These are just a few ways you can incoroprate self love into your daily routine.
---------------------------------------------------
self love and self care go together
What is self care?
Self care is the name for the activities we do to take care of our mental, physical, and emotional health.
Who can self care?
Self care is for everyone.
We become proactive and create healthy self care patterns we benefit and the people around us benefit too.
Make no mistake, self care is for you, and you will recieve positive benefits from the very first day you decide to put your self care first.
Take your time.
Self care should not feel like a burden.
These moments should add peace and serenity to your day.
A simple self care routine could look like this:
Waking up and having a warm cup of herbal tea after a relaxing bath or shower.
Followed by sitting on your yoga mat for 10-15 minutes and focusing on your breathing.
After that, writing in your journal or daily planner can help you to declutter your mind and help prioritize your tasks for the day.
Again, these are just a few ideas to start with, because there are so many options to self care and self care routines. It is always best to go with what you feel comfortable for you, at your own pace.
---------------------------------------------------
For me it means listening to what my body, my mind, and my spirit needs, and doing what is necessary to make sure I take the time to nurture myself.
Nurture is defined as the process of caring for and encouraging the growth or developement of someone or something.
Engouraging growth and development of someone
That is the focus.
We spend so much time taking care of other people that when its time to take care of ourselves we are just too tired or burnt out to do anything.
I spent many years of my life being too mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted to even begin to think about taking care if myself, let alone loving myself.
Between motherhood and working at night for almost 15 years, I just didnt have it in me. Not to mention the stressors of all trauma being stored in my body from being abused as a little girl.
Many, many, many times my life fell apart and I had to pick myself up and put myself back together again.
I mean if Humpty Dumpty was a person...
That was so many moons ago...
Thank the Universe and my Higher Power for letting me see the light and showing me how to truly love myself at my core.
It all started with 1 Corinthians Chapter 13, more commonly known as the love chapter. My Higher Power told me to read it, study it, and apply it to my life; and that is exactly what I did.
This is just how my story goes... I'm not an evangalist, but I do have a testimony.
Well, thank you so very much for allowing me to share, just writing this was a major accomplishment for me.
This concludes today's lesson.
